Chapter 1
Discovery
The biggest ideas begin with the smallest moments.
Belle had always been fascinated by the insects we raised for our reptiles and amphibians. While most dogs ignored them, she watched them with endless curiosity—and whenever one escaped, she was always first to investigate.
To our surprise, Belle didn't just chase them...
She loved them.
Even better, unlike many conventional proteins, they agreed perfectly with her sensitive stomach.
Chapter 2
Science
Curiosity sparked the question. Science found the answer.
As a veterinarian, I couldn't ignore what Belle had discovered.
Research showes that Black Soldier Fly Larvae are a complete, highly digestible protein that's naturally gentle on many sensitive stomachs while also being one of the world's most sustainable protein sources.
Suddenly Belle's little discovery wasn't just interesting.
It was backed by science.
Chapter 3
Creation
Every recipe has a beginning. Ours began around the family kitchen.
We experimented with simple, wholesome ingredients until every recipe was nutritious, delicious and gentle on sensitive stomachs.
Batch after batch, Belle happily volunteered as our most enthusiastic taste tester.
Slowly, one curious discovery became the very first Big Bug Bite.
Chapter 4
Craftmanship
Great ingredients deserve thoughtful craftsmanship.
Every batch is carefully mixed, gently baked and slowly perfected.
We believe the smallest details matter—from selecting simple ingredients to baking every treat with patience and care.
Because quality isn't rushed.
It's crafted.
Chapter 5
Approval
Every great recipe needs a second opinion.
Belle may have inspired every recipe, but no batch was truly complete until it passed one final test.
Enter Franc.
Unlike Belle, Franc had never shown the slightest interest in live insects. But once they became treats… he was immediately convinced.
As our professional taste tester and self-appointed Quality Assurance Manager, he made sure every recipe met his very high standards.
If Belle approved and Franc came back for seconds, we knew we had something special.
Chapter 6
Joy
The greatest reward was seeing other dogs love them too.
What started as one curious dog's discovery has grown into Belle Belle's Big Bug Bites—a boutique Australian brand inspired by curiosity, guided by veterinary science and crafted with care.
Every recipe still reflects the same values that shaped our journey from the very beginning.
Because every dog deserves better.

Belle isn’t just the face of our brand — she’s the reason it exists.
Like many French Bulldogs, Belle has a sensitive stomach and a highly suspicious attitude toward ingredients that don’t agree with her.
Then something unexpected happened.
While we were raising insects for the reptiles and amphibians at home, Belle developed an unusual fascination with them. Most dogs ignored them. Belle investigated.
To our surprise, they agreed with her in a way many traditional proteins never had.
That curious discovery became the beginning of Belle Belle’s Big Bug Bites.
Today, Belle still has the most important role in the business: every new recipe must earn the official Belle Approval™.

Meet Our Vet
Science, curiosity and a lifetime spent caring for animals.
Before Belle Belle’s Big Bug Bites existed, my veterinary career had already taken me around the world caring for an incredible variety of animals — from sharks and stingrays to penguins, reptiles, amphibians, fish and even insects.
Working in public aquariums taught me that every species has unique nutritional and health needs. Whether caring for a shark, a penguin or a tiny frog, the principle is always the same: understand the animal first, then build everything else around its needs.
When Belle developed food sensitivities, I approached the challenge the same way I would any veterinary problem — with curiosity, careful observation and evidence-based thinking.
Rather than settling for conventional ingredients, Belle’s fascination with insects led us to explore something different.
That unexpected discovery brought together my profession, our family’s love of animals and Belle’s curiosity, eventually becoming the foundation of Belle Belle’s Big Bug Bites.
Today, every recipe is still developed with the same philosophy: thoughtfully formulated, backed by science and made with Belle’s enthusiastic approval.

Franc
Meet Our Quality Assurance Manager
Unlike Belle, Franc was never interested in eating live insects.
In fact, he wasn’t particularly impressed by the idea at all.
But once Belle’s discovery had been transformed into carefully baked treats, everything changed.
Now, if there’s a new recipe being tested, Franc is always first in line.
His standards are simple:
If it doesn’t disappear in seconds…
…it goes back to the kitchen.
Together, Belle and Franc make the perfect quality-control team — Belle inspires the recipes, while Franc makes sure every batch earns a second enthusiastic butt wag.
